1948 WillysCJ2a
I bought the Jeep in 2016. I purchased it as a rolling chassis, with engine/drive-train and all body parts removed.
The tub and body parts are ALL ORIGINAL and were already painted in what I was told was the original color.
The frame and wheels were also already painted.
I was told the engine/transmission/transfer case were also all original to the jeep.
The seat frames are all original.
The jeep is wearing a WWII windshield frame which already had the glass in it when I received it. It will come with the original matching color
CJ2A
windshield as well. See photos.
The frame on this jeep was perfect. There were no patches and all of the original spring hangers were straight. It has no damage.
The mechanical components that I disassembled (listed below) also showed minimal wear. I believe this jeep was driven very little and parked for some reason.
I personally have never seen one in such solid original mechanical condition.
I did not rebuild the engine. The compression was good, so I put a head gasket on it. It's the strongest and smoothest running Go-Devil I've ever owned. Very easy cranking.
I decided to convert the Jeep to 12 volt system as I planned on driving this jeep and wanted the reliability. It turned out so nice that I don't want to off-road it, so I'm going to let it go.
The Jeep has less than 30 miles on it since the restoration was completed, for test drives. When I state "New" below that means < 30 miles :)
